Project Ashakiran: Pioneering a Zero-Waste Future in Singaperumal Koil Panchayat
Project Ashakiran, a CSR initiative by Renault Nissan Technology & Business Centre India, is committed to transforming Singaperumal Koil Panchayat into a model zero-waste community. Spearheaded by India Cares Foundation and Max Social Innovations, with VentureVillage as the academic partner, this initiative aims to educate and empower the next generation on sustainable waste management practices.
In our introductory session, we launched the GreenCity course, designed to educate students about global waste management challenges and inspire them to adopt environmentally friendly lifestyles. The session emphasized the importance of sorting and segregating waste, while also highlighting the potential of waste as a valuable resource. Students were encouraged to think critically and develop projects addressing environmental issues within their communities.
The session’s primary goal was to engage students in activity-based learning, fostering a deeper understanding of waste management and sustainability. We successfully introduced these concepts to 200 students from two government schools, laying the groundwork for a more sustainable future.
VentureVillage is excited to continue these sessions, furthering our commitment to climate action and sustainable living. Stay tuned for more updates as we work together to create a greener tomorrow!
